Sacred Heart Parish PrimaryBroken Hill
After attending the LTLL inservice at Cobar the staff at Sacred Heart have been busy putting together our action plan focussing on Educative Leadership.
Through our plan we aim to:
- Ensure every student achieves growth in both literacy and numeracy.
- Establish a tracking system to record students growth from K-6.
- Identify students most at risk of minimal growth.
Since the inservice we have used staff meeting time to evaluate how we can most effectively record and use the data that we collect throughout the year. We now have a data template and are ready to start using this for each individual student.
Our action plan is almost finalised so watch this space!!!!
Also, thanks to all of the other schools for the information they have been putting on the wiki especially in regards to IT! - Mel Thanks Mel and the team at Broken Hill....look forward to seeing the action plan!! Jane 31/8/10
It has been a while since our last entry but that is because we have been so busy putting all of our plans into action. Since the last update we have agreed upon and formatted an individual and class tracking sheet for both literacy and numeracy. We have then gone through all of the past records and updated the individual tracking sheets as far back as we can. This is giving us a great background on our students and we are now starting to be able to see their progression. This week (week 4) has been our standardised testing week, when we have finished marking the teachers will all be able to access their students tracking sheet and input their test results in directly. Attached are our tracking sheet formats that we are using at Sacred Heart!
Your tracking systems are impressive. Where do they fit in to your action plan? Looking forward to seeing how this all fits when you upload your plan. Simone Harding 8th June, 2011
Thanks to all at Broken Hill for the great presentation at Cobar. The following is a summary of the affirmations and Generative questions. Affirmations
Great professional Dialogue going on.
Good planning for passing on information year to year
Congratulations on focussing on relevant resources
Good to see you looking at how quality resources should support the achievement of outcomes
A great whole school approach
You didn't take a bandaid approach but rather a big purposeful job.
Generative Questions
Is there an educational conversation at handover time?
How will you build on the resources?
What professional development do you have planned for staff around the effective teaching of reading and the reading process?
Have you set targets for each grade?
What do you do for students who are operating beyond level 30?
What is the purpose of the Lexia program? How does it relate to outcomes?
How does the teaching of reading look in your classrooms?
One week on from our final presentation in Cobar and we are back at school busily cataloguing our ICT resources.
We are also investigating student driven goal setting which was another red light for our school.
